Kersti began her photographic journey using a film camera at an early age which gave her a solid basis for understanding how an image can be produced from what is seen through the viewfinder. With her background in biology, Kersti’s photography is inspired by the wonders of nature around us, from breathtaking landscapes and the magnificent creatures that inhabit this world, to a macro view of dynamic objects such as water drops and snowflakes. From within this natural world she captures intriguing perspectives of the fleeting moments around us. More recently, she has explored an impressionistic approach through imaginative use of colour palettes combined with line and shape transformations to take those moments in her nature photography into the realm of the abstract.
Kersti has participated in several group shows in Toronto and has been published in the magazine Nature Photographer. She is presently the president of the Beach Photo Club in Toronto. She is excited to show some of her newest images in the f8 Photography Collective exhibition “Abstract” at the Dignam Gallery in November 2021.
