John has been an avid amateur photographer for over 35 years He served for many seasons as the president of Toronto’s Beach Photo Club. Over the years the delights of the digital darkroom and the capabilities of digital SLR’s have led him to abandon film. For John, photography is an adjunct to the experience. To experience is to revel in the glory of the world and its celebration in his images is John’s form of prayer. John’s goal is not to be in the right place at the right time, but rather to exercise his eyes and imagination to capture the best images possible wherever his peregrinations take him.
In the stillness of the night he ponders the composition, seeking to “concentrate its essence” and in doing so, relive the experience. The process is fundamental to John’s being, encapsulating three pillars of his personal gospel: Communion with Nature and by extension, the Physical World; Communion with Man; ultimately, exercising the power, the delight, the inspiration of Creativity.
